WHAT'S YOUR SKIN TYPE?

Basically there are 5 skin types. Now find out the type you fall into.

NORMAL SKIN TYPE.
This is the balanced skin type.
It has a healthy glow, with a fine texture and no open pores.
It rarely develops spots or shiny areas.
Normal skin is not too oily and not too dry.
It barely has visible pores and no severe sensitivity.

Your water-oil level is well balanced.
The surface of your skin doesn't feel rough and you can feel the elasticity.
Right after cleansing, you may feel a little dry but after a while, you can feel that your face is normal.

OILY SKIN TYPE.

This skin type usually has open pores and an oily surface,
with a tendency towards pimples, blackheads, and a sallow appearance.
This type is caused by over active sebaceous gland, producing too much sebum.
Like most skin types, oily skin is heavily influenced by genetics, and other factors.
This skin type is the one most prone to acne.
The pores seem enlarged and visible.
Skin looks thicker and paler.
But the good side is that the oiliness keeps the skin younger looking for long.

Whiteheads, blackheads, clogged pores, pimples or other blemishes are usually normal features on this skin type.
After cleansing, you feel clean and oil free but shortly afterwards, the oil returns.

DRY SKIN TYPE.
With a dry skin type, the skin feels tight, flashy and dry.
This type is prone to wrinkles, aging, and irritation.
This skin type is usually dull and rough, and has more visible lines.
Your skin can crack, peel, or become itchy, irritated or inflamed.

Complexion looks dull and blotchy.
Scaling, flaking, and itchiness may occur.
Basically, dry skin ages quickly, and after you apply makeup you can see patchiness and flakiness faster than other skin types.

That's why you need a moisturizer that has a strong oil balance to prevent the moisture from floating away.
It's recommended to use a cleansing oil to gently remove all the dirt from your pores and moisturize always.
Too much exfoliation can make the skin drier.

Dry skin tend to be thinner than other skin types, so instead of using a strong exfoliator, use a cream or a toner type exfoliator.
Mandelic acid;5% on a cotton wool will help you lessen flakiness.

COMBINATION SKIN TYPE.
This type is a combination of oiliness and dryness.
Some parts of the skin would be oily while the other parts may appear to be dry.
The nose as well as the forehead would be shiny and oily, whereas all other areas of your face would be clear.

This skin type changes with the weather.
Combination skin type has pores that look larger than normal, because they are more open, blackheads and shiny skin.
This type is usually prone to acne on the chin, nose and forehead.

SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE.
This type usually feels rough and dry in the afternoon and night times.
The skin is easily prone to irritations, flushing, rashes, and red patches.
Most skin products trigger itching and a feeling of tingling when applied to the skin.
You can't just use any product on your skin so not to trigger irritation.
You tend to have a lot of acne, whiteheads, redness and allergies.

When choosing a product, you need to test it first on small sensitive part of your skin such as your wrist, or the back of your neck and behind your ear.

Use mild products and gently cleanse while focusing on soothing your skin.
Use some foaming cleanser of low pH.
Too much exfoliation on sensitive skin can actually harm your skin.
