THE PERFECT SKINCARE ROUTINE.

Glowing skin is a result of proper skincare.
You can wear less make-up and your skin still shines through.
How do you care for your skin?
 What procedures do you follow?
Below are the processes involved in order to have that glowing, popping and clear skin.

1 CLEANSING.
This is the basic aspect of skincare.
Cleaning the face sets the stage for whatever else that will take place on the skin.

Water soluble emulsions (creams) or wipe off lotions are ideal.
For an oily skin, use pH balanced soap-free bars.
Don't over cleanse to avoid irritations, dry patches, and redness.
Not cleaning the skin well enough can clog pores or leave a residue on the face that can prevent skin cells from sloughing off.

The 3 primary categories of cleansers available are:
i) Wipe-off cleansers (which include cold creams and milky make up removers).
ii) Soaps of all kinds (Bar cleansers).
iii) Water soluble cleansers (Creamy, lotion, or shampoo type cleansers).

Avoid water soluble cleansers that contain AHA, BHA, or disinfectants.
If your skin is dry, use a lotion or cream based product that leaves behind emollients.
If your skin is normal to oily, use a gel cleanser or a very mild facial soap.
A sensitive skin should never use a deodorant soap on the face or neck.

2. TONING.
This is the 2nd step and an important one.
Toner helps remove residue soap, moisturizer and oil from the skin.
Use alcohol-free toner or Rosewater to freshen your skin.

Look out for these ingredients in a toner.
Alpha or Beta hydroxy acids which help remove dead cells, improve sun- damaged skin and minimize dullness.
Hyaluronic acid which boosts hydration, seals in moisture, and plump skin to treat fine lines.
Rosewater or green tea which calm irritation and reduce redness with an anti-inflammatory effect.
Vitamins E & C to fight daily exposure to free radicals that can age your skin.

3. EXFOLIATION.
(SCRUBS & MASKS).
Once a week is preferable to exfoliate the skin, as too much buffing will over stimulate and irritate your skin.
Exfoliation helps renew the skin cells by cleaning out dead cells.
Removing these dead cells speeds up the process of skin regeneration.

According to the skincare guru, Paula Begoun: Exfoliating helps the dead surface skin cells to slough off evenly and at a more normal rate, making room for the lower layers of newer skin cells to arrive.

The AHAs Scrubs are best option for normal to dry skin, aging or sun-damaged skin as they do not penetrate into the pores.
BHA Scrubs can exfoliate the surface of the skin as well as the skin within the pores, and its preferable for oily skin which are prone to breakouts or clogged pores.

Masks are designed to bring about a quick improvement in the condition of your skin.
There are varieties of it;
Moisturizing masks, Clay and mud masks, Exfoliating masks, Peel-off masks and Gel masks.
They are usually left on the skin for 5-10 minutes before being washed off.
They help to refresh the skin by cleaning clogged pores, as well as lightly nourishing the skin.

4. SERUM.
This contains the highest concentration of active ingredients.
They are powerful skin allies.
Serums should contain:
Hyaluronic acid to seal in moisture and strengthen the top layer of your skin.
Vitamin C to help brighten dull skin and decrease dark spots.
Retinol to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which helps prevent lines and skin sagging.
Colloidal sulphur & Niacinamide to calm redness and irritation by decreasing inflammation.

5. MOISTURIZING.
It's ideal to use water-based creams and emulsions.
If your skin frequently breaks out of pimples and blackheads, try using a light, oil-free moisturizers.
If you don't have dry skin, avoid using a cream, lotion or serum- type moisturizer.
This is to prevent breakouts and greasy feeling through your make-up by the day.
Use the lightest moisturizer that can make your skin feel soft.

Follow these steps and I assure you, your skin will have every reason to breathe freshness.

....Be different.....Be beautiful.
